Modern Family Troubles Modern Family star Ariel Winter, who plays brainy Alex has been taken from the custody of her mother. The 14-year-old is apparently the victim of emotional and physical abuse and been placed in a temporary guardianship with her older sister. Several outlets are also reporting that Ariel is seeking legal emancipation from her mom…Her mom is telling People magazine that allegations of abuse are “all untrue,” and claims to have letters from a doctor and stylists indicating there was no abuse.
