Behind the Story of 'Alone With You'

Jake Owen’s song 'Alone With You' is number one and was not written by Jake…it was actually written by a couple of people and imspired by a 2002 memoir “Running With Scissors”… Shane McAnally (one of the writers) had just read the book and thought it would be a cool song lyric to use "Running With Scissors"  Ultimately, he wrote the line "you've got me running with scissors down the hall, and I know it could kill me if I fall."   When Jake went in to put his final vocal on the track, he didn't feel like that line was true to who he was, and wasn't comfortable singing it. So the line was changed to "you've got me out on the edge every time you call, and I know it would kill me if i fall."   It's pretty ironic, that the line they based the whole song on, is the line that got "cut."  lol

Now, Last night Jake performed ‘Alone With You” on Jay Leno…..which was a great performance btw!  He’s been on Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Chelsea Lately….and we’ll be interviewing him this week on the show!  His been on such a huge high lately and I must admitt I'm very excited to interview him :)  -Ashley
